5 IDEAS TO REVAMP YOUR PATIO FOR WARM WEATHER

With the seasons changing and warmer weather consistently heading our way, patio season is officially underway! It can be tricky to figure out where to start when thinking about giving a communal space for gathering a little seasonal lift. Here are a few interior design tips to help your revamp go smoothly.

EMBRACE EACH TIME OF DAY

Outdoor spaces are great for mornings, afternoons, and nights during the warmer months. As the sun rises, a comfy chair and a small table provide the perfect spot to sit and drink your morning coffee or read a book. Mid-day and afternoon is when the sun is the hottest, so the shade from an umbrella over awning will keep you feeling cool. And nothing completes an outdoor space like a fire-feature to roast s’mores over after the sun has set.

ADD SOME COLOR

Our favorite color this season is aqua; a greenish-blue color that truly feels like summer. Whether you incorporate it in a few new pillows, in your mid-day umbrella, or in a water feature, it makes for a calming and serene environment.

FLEXIBLE PIECES

Outdoor furniture takes a lot of wear between sun, changes in weather, and being consistently used. Sometimes it can feel like we don’t get enough wear out of it for what we paid for it. That’s why flexible pieces are great. Flexible couches that can be taken apart and used as separate chairs, or outdoor bean bags that can be wiped down and used indoors during other seasons are great pieces that hold up for years of use.

ZEN IT OUT

Your outdoor space should feel like an oasis. Whether that means adding exterior bulb lights, a hammock, or an outdoor rug, you deserve to have a space that calms you down. We recommend picking pieces with rounded edges or smooth corners to help guide your eye smoothly around the space, and textures that emulate ripples or waves.

FLOWERS, FLOWERS, FLOWERS

Nothing compares to the sight or smell of beautiful flowers. Whether you plant seeds and watch them bloom or grab a few annuals or perennials from the garden center, they have the ability to brighten up a space. And once you’re done enjoying them outside, they can be pressed for a custom piece of indoor wall art.
