SPARK CREATIVITY IN YOUR HOME WITH A FEW EASY STEPS

Creativity doesn’t just come out of nowhere. It’s something we need to nurture and invite into our life. We all have days where we feel more creative than others. So what can we do to spark our creativity daily?

Interior design can be as easy as making a few changes at home. Here are some simple ways that can transform a space in your home to the place you feel inspired.

DECLUTTER

We can’t say it enough. A cluttered space equals a cluttered mind where creativity has no room to flourish. Start by getting rid of things you don’t use and make room so you can spread out and breathe. This will create less distractions for your mind, and more space for ideas to grow.  Also, getting rid of unwanted things will make your space much easier to clean and keep organized on a daily basis, leaving more time for creativity.

HAVE FUN WITH YOUR DESIGN

Mix neutral walls with splashes of your favorite colors to spark creativity. Add pictures or decorations that inspire you, like a picture of your favorite ocean view, or a photograph or painting from your favorite artist. Make sure your space has a fair amount of natural light or even better, arrange your desk next to a window. And if your view doesn’t feature greenery already, add some plants! Adding personal touches will make you feel more comfortable, which in turn will naturally make you feel more inspired.

HAVE YOUR OWN CREATIVE SPACE

Dedicate a specific area of your house as your creative space. Have notebooks accessible, or maybe even a whiteboard or chalkboard to take quick notes when you have a burst of inspiration. Eliminate things from your creative space that you may find stressful or distracting, like unopened mail or a stack of unpaid bills. Take your space to a more relaxing level with your favorite candles or essential oil diffuser, to create an environment that is comfortable and calming, and less “work focused.”

GET YOURSELF IN THE FLOW

Now that your space is ready for you, get your mind and body ready as well. Create a space to move, shake and play, and make sure to take breaks throughout the day, to increase blood flow and give your body a chance to rest and recharge. Which activity works best for you? Is it yoga or meditation? Have your yoga mat or meditation pillow within reach as a reminder. Is it music and dancing? Build a good playlist and keep some open space to shake things out and let loose. Know yourself and have those tools within reach to help you revive the creative energy when you are feeling stuck.
